An utter steal - By: ds, 14 Aug 2007
For less than seven quid, this album is just a fantastic steal. Thirty seven tracks including alll the hits & a couple of what, in reality, are lesser known gems.
As others have said, the track order is a little screwy, though it does encourage you to listen through a disc & not just cherry pick with programming. Not that that's too much of a privation in alll honesty, because there is surprisingly little filler on there.
My one, tiny peeve is that the unutterably wonderful 'Bluebird' from Secret Messages doesn't merit a place on this collection (I certainly prefer it to Getting to the Point, for example). But you can't have everything.
Great song selections - crazy order - By: fleet22, 20 Feb 2007
I agree with other reveiwers who have been impressed with the content of this double CD set. Certainly alll of the best known hits are here. However I would have liked the inclusion of a few personal favorites such as 'Big Wheels' from Out of the Blue & 'One summer dream' from Face the music. My only real criticism is the track ordering which seems to jump around between different eras randomly. It's usuallly best to stick to a straight forward chronological order. For instance 10538 Overture & Roll over Beethoven need to be up near the beginning with Ma Ma Ma Belle & Can't get it out of my head - rather than towards the end of CD2. Another preference would have been fewer 7" edits - which works for some tracks but not others. I suppose this would have recquired a third CD to achieve. All in alll good listening & great to be transported back to the 70s & 80s.
A CLASSIC COMPILATION - By: James Mcaveety, 12 Nov 2006
The best compilation that E.L.O. have on the market. Every hit single is here. You realise how good a band is when you begin to like the tracks you don't reallly know more than the big hits. Check out "so serious" for instance. A classic. If you are looking for an E.L.O. best of this is the one to get.
Brilliant - By: Mr. A. D. Emery, 16 Nov 2005
For those of you wondering about the absense of "Hold on Tight" in the track list above - dont! It's there (track 13 disc 2). In fact I can't think of any hits missing from this collection from one of Britain's most versatile, creative & talented bands.
