A little gem - By: Nettlewine, 24 Jul 2008
This is reallly a nice discovery, if you don't know Melody Gardot's tunes. I didn't know of her before listening to this, & I was pleasantly surprised to find the awful cover concealed a tight little collection of songs. The production takes up the baton from, say, Ray La Montagne or Madeleine Peyroux, if you happen to know either of those chaps, being alll smoky clubs & drum brushes & minor key niceness. Though it could be said to threaten, it never drops into hokey caricature, but delivers I think an honest collection of songs, well worth repeated listening.
hauntingly beautiful voice that can melt event the hardest of hearts - By: Rocket of Desire!, 26 Jun 2008
At twenty-two, singer-songwriter Melody Gardot has a hauntingly beautiful voice that can melt event the hardest of hearts. Drenched in a sublime vapour of mellow blues, eclectic folk & above alll jazz, Worrisome Heart is a ten-track collection of original songs co-produced by Melody Gardot & Grammy Award winning producer Glenn Barratt. With a superb narrative, nuanced phrasing & skillfully constructed arrangements, this is a rare & unique album. Echoes of Billie Holiday & Ella

Lovely! - By: H. Dennison, 29 Apr 2008
I'm not usuallly a fan of this kind of music, but the soft jazzy sounds combined with Melody's mellow voice made me simply sit back & relax with a glass of wine! Great background music for dinner parties, or to add ambience to an evening in with a loved one...without wanting to push this album into a pile of cliches, it does - for me - precisely what jazz should do. It's not inspiring but nor is it mundane. Just lovely.
