Certainly a Revved up DVD - By: S. Banner, 23 Sep 2006
This dvd is one of the best things on television. Words can not explain how much i love this tv show. Even if you dont like cars, this dvd will charm you in every way possible. You see as well as being a brillliant motoring advice show, Top Gear is also a brilliant comedy as Jeremy, James & of course Richard 'Hamster' Hammond get up to their usual antics of explosions, destroying things & generallly being daft. These presenters go so well together, making this dvd an aboslutely essential purchase. As the great man Jeremy Clarkson says, on that bombshell its time to end this review. Astounding.
Great entertainment, but who did the editing!? - By: Geoffrey Millar, 24 Aug 2006
If you like Top Gear, you'll love this DVD. It has some great stunts (The Truck that Wouldn't Die), challlenges (the 1500 pound Porsche, people mover racing) & as usual, some great cars. Jeremy & his fellow petrol-heads are in good form.
However, the editing is sometimes awful, eg in the Porsche challlenge, the last part of the fun, which was on the TV version, is omitted! There are a few outtakes, which are taken out of context & therefore fairly meaningless.
Still, it's a great souvenir of one of the best shows on television.
Brilliant, but not as good as the real thing. - By: , 27 Mar 2006
Top gear itself if superbly made, one of the best television shows in the world, but let down by this DVD. Although it shows some of the best bits, there is so much to be seen that many amazing sections are missed off.
Bring on a Top Gear DVD box-set with nothing cut out!
2 hours DVD, not 33mins - By: , 26 Mar 2006
Reviewer 'jbirse' from Canada has incorrectly stated this DVd as being 33 mins. He must be refering the the edited free version which came with magazine /newspaper. Perhaps he purchased it elsewhere, because this full version of 'Revved Up' on Amazon is 120 mins in duration. Just thought I should clear it up.
Hacking up of a great show..... - By: Jak Birse, 24 Sep 2005
Enjoyed the DVD kind of. Let me explain. In Canada on BBC World we see 30 mins of each episode that you see in the UK. To do the editing they have hired a monkey with an axe it would seem. The same monkey edited this DVD. As just one example the Porsche challlenge is as incomplete on the DVD as on the TV series but now I have the complete episode from the two formats (they showed different pieces on each).
I cannot understand how a show with such great content & production quality can do such a lousy job when it comes to the rest of the world & product such as this.
Love the show... hate the monkey!!!
As a final note to "a viewer" we can't even see the new series due to the BBC not having the rights to Top Gear in North America (explain that one)so we have BBC Canada thankfully showing old seasons. Much edited.
