amusing but never laugh out loud funny - By: dan the fan, 05 Aug 2008
Robin Williams is a man of God who puts people who want to get married through a test which if they pass it, means their marriage will survive.
And thus Williams lowers the divorce rate. An amusing film but never laugh out loud funny with Mandy Moore & John Krasinski - a couple hoping to be wed - playing likeable if fairly mundane characters.
But the dialogue & story are interesting enough to make this movie worth seeing.

was a good film. I liked it. i liked Robin Williams & i like him in this. It even made me have a little cry at the moment towards the end where they are in Jamaica. Watch it now!
Very average romantic comedy - By: CJR, 11 Apr 2008
I reallly like John Krasinski so I had hoped to love this. Unfortunately this film never quite hits the mark. Mandy Moore is quite irritating & I just can't imagine anyone ever getting themselves caught up in the story line. It's a shame because the potential is there but License to Wed just misses. On the plus side, John K. is gorgeous as ever & it's a bit of a treat for fans of The Office (An American Workplace) as there are cameos from a few of the cast. Pretty average stuff.
Not great - By: jenny, 09 Apr 2008
Storyline sounds like it's going to be a good one but somehow the film just doesn't live up to that. It wasn't particularly funny, I think I only laughed once & although there were some potentiallly interesting issues to be explored the actors couldn't manage to get the most out of it.
Annoying characters & aggravating storyline! - By: Esoteric, 12 Mar 2008
I have been a Robin Williams fan for many years & was reallly looking forward to seeing him play this character. However, the characters & scenarios here were unbelievable - As we watch the young groom being constantly bullied by his future wife, her family & her strange minister into uncomfortable scenes where William's character seems more sinister than funny.
One or two funny scenarios, but for us the overalll film felt uncomfortable & lacked any believability.
