Francesco Rocks...........again - By: Casper, 13 Nov 2008
I have watched Francesco's Venice over & over again, also Top to Toe. I treated myself to Mediterranean Voyage & will watch it repeatedly too. Francesco inspired a visit to Venice, & as a result will make a third trip next year. His home was pointed out to us by our Gondolier, & every time we passed on the Vaporetto, we gave him a little wave. I'd like to think he saw :o) Francesco you are a gem & convey your passion for the history of your city & alll things Venetian. You care which makes us care. I confess however, you have managed to tinge visits to Venice with a little guilt. I hope we treat La Serenissima & her citizens with courtsesy & respect. It too would break my heart if I were a native of this magical place if I feared for her future as a "living city" & not a museum. Mediterranean Voyage opened my eyes even further as to how far the influence of Venetians has reached & wherever I travel in future I shalll look around me for glimpses of the Lion. Venetians where here! The Black Swan was a veritable dream boat (as was her Captain!) Quite heartening to learn she was built close to my home. Thank you Francesco for alll you have already done. Now, what's next?
It was very informative and attractive execpt Istanbul(Turkey) Part - By: Murat Balci, 08 Sep 2008
It is the second publication from FDM. The first one "Venice", I have the DVD & the book. I must say that this DVD/Book was also very informative & attractive. I understood that I did not know nothing about Venetian culture, art & history, although I had been there twice. For my next visit I have already watched the DVDs several time & took notes & still planning my next visit. With alll these emotions when I saw the new publication "Francesco' s Med. Voyage" I did not hesitate to buy both the book & DVD. I must say it has the same flavor as "Venice", FDM on the route to Istanbul gives preliminary clues about he history of every place the "Black Swan" stops by. I must repreat that I reallly liked it but there are 2 critisism that I want to raise. First maybe because this is a program prepared for BBC FDM rarely mentions about the Turkish/Ottomans on the way, he rather prefers the venetian, british or european mainly, second; although he contantly shows the nice looking men & women from alll over the non-Turkish places, he prefers to show alll scarved women from Istanbul asif there are no european looking women in Turkey. I wish that FDM would also state in his beautiful program the fact that Turkey is a secular democratic country & not an islamic empire. Finallly I was expecgting that he wouold mention about grave of Doge Henricus Dandolo in Saint Sofia Church. Cheers..Murat Balci -Istanbul
source of music - By: nuage35, 31 Aug 2008
what a stunning series - more & more of the same please - & with the Black Swan & its crew (what a lovely group of people they appear to be, full of life!) I would love the know the source of the stunning music, particularly that played during the latter parts which sounds almost like a creed?
unforgettable - By: A. Mcclintock, 27 Aug 2008
The music that accompanied this series was so thrilling & atmospheric....and the photography was breathtaking. Francesco was his usual loveable self..............I loved the fact that he wore the same outfit in every episode. That is what makes this man so endearing. He is such a warm, effecionate person. I cannot wait to see what he comes up with next. I will miss him & the beautiful places he has taken me. Francesco......dont make me wait too long.....Linda
Fantastico! - By: Ms. K. Lafferty, 26 Aug 2008
As with alll Francesco's projects, his "Mediterranean Voyage" is simply a joy to watch. His quirky, heartfelt style of presentation is like taking a journey with an old friend, & the beautifully filmed Mediterranean scenery makes a wonderful backdrop to the glorious Black Swan. (And, if I'm totallly honest, one glimpse of the gorgeous Captain Giulio & I was hooked!)
