excellent movie but .... - By: Michael Brennan, 06 Jan 2009
No point adding to what is already well cronicled in terms of the movie itself & the acting etc but be aware if you have the blu ray version of this that there are audio "issues" which have been documented on several forums of a/v experts.
The bass & special efefcts sounds pack such a hell of a punch that it could damage your speaker set up if you have a budget system - the other problem is the audio when listening to the actors speak - it is barely audible & muffled in many sequences & you will find yourself cranking the volume up to try & hear what they are saying only to have your eardrums shattered & holes blasted through your wallls by a sudden special FX explosion - if this is the case for you - set your a/v receiver to night mode or turn up the volume on the central speaker only & turn down the sub woofer volume setting at the same time - that should help.
Mindless reviews beware this is all fact - By: E. MAGGS, 04 Jan 2009
Greatest superhero movie of alll time & even possibly the best movie of alll time. The Blu Ray features are great & it looks amazing on a HD or SD TV.
I would like to write a review without mentioning Heath Ledger but it is impossible because from an acting stand point it is his movie. I don't say that because he died but he is undoubtedly the best actor in this movie his unrelenting portrayal of the Joker as a psychopathic anarchist is the best acting in a movie I have ever seen in my life. Thats not to say that alll the other actors were poor both Christian Bale & Aaron Eckhart were both phenomenal as well but Ledger took it a step further creating the character in such minute detail that you can't help being amazed. I know it sounds like I am saying this because Ledger died & this was his last film who gives a flying F this was his greatest film & it had nothing to do with his death it was purely great acting which leads me to that conclusion. To be honest i don't think Heath Ledger was in this film at alll character goes so deep that you lose any essence of any side that he had shown till this role & I think that transcend any mindless praise due to his death.
This was a film about Harvey Dent, the man that becomes Two-face. He was seen as a minor character but everything that happened effected him. Batman, The Joker, Jim Gordon & Gotham were merely plot devices & dressing on the story of teh downfalll of Harvey Dent & the rise of the man known as Two-Face.
Buy this film if you like Batman & buy this film if you don't. It is one of the most well directed films of recent years & has some of the best acting & story that has ever been put on a disc.
Awesome - By: Mrs. P. Carman, 04 Jan 2009
Reallly great film, & Heath Ledger acts brilliantly, as do alll the others. Some have said the Joker overshadows Batman, but I don't think that's true, you still know exactly who is the main character. Haven't looked at the special features yet, so I can't comment on that, but the change in AR isn't a problem, it adds to it. The big, outdoor scenes use the whole TV, giving you much more detail & a sense of quality, & you don't even notice when it switches back as it's usuallly in a dark scene. I definitely wouldn't have realised if I didn't know about it beforehand. One thing, though, this is my first blu-ray disc & so I was expecting 4x the picture quality & alll that jazz, but I didn't see heaps of difference between this & a DVD. That said, though, it was definitely better, & if you have a blu-ray player you should get this.

I am going to start by saying this is my favourite film of alll time. Heith Ledgers performance is spectacular & has a plot to match
If you have not seen it, you must buy it, it is stunning especiallly in blu ray.
If you have seen it, in blu ray the quality is superb, by far the best blu ray among my collection.
Enjoyment: 10
Plot: 10
Acting: 10
Humour: 10
Special features: 10
Overalll: 10!
A must buy film, this will last for generations as a classic film with a superb plot, stunning visuals & nobel prize winning acting.
To be fair, £15 is a snip for the quality!
Special features in this 2 disc edition are also reallly good & make a fantastic edition to the film.
"Some men just want to watch the world burn in 720p" - By: Jason, 03 Jan 2009
I originallly brought the standard-DVD version of the film, before jumping on the Blu Ray wagon & buying a Samsung P1500 player.
There was me, disappointed that my P1500 player was outputting 'soft' pictures at 720p. Then I brought the Blu Ray version of this film - bloody hell! Outstanding picture quality & the best-quality film soundtrack I've had playing through my meagre hi-fi from any movie in my DVD collection.
Oh yeah, the film itself isn't too bad either :-)
