Groundbreaking Comedy Drama - By: Neil, 15 Dec 2008
This is a quite remarkable piece of work which is much more than the beautifully observed sitcom which it appears to be...

What you must remember is that the peformances of the three amazing children are largely improvised...I think this makes this production as innovative as the early Mike Leigh pieces in terms of its dramatic approach & impact.

This is landmark TV which is head & shoulders above other comedies - thank god the BBC has supported the writers in producing a new series but this one is well worth buying....

Delightful comedy - By: Bluebell, 14 Dec 2008
I've only just discovered how good this series is by watching the Second series currently broadcast on BBC1 television. This DVD has enabled me to see how the series started. It's a gem of a comedy. It's interesting to see how the three youngsters in it have developed & grown between the two series. I'm amazed at how natural the children are & how they spontaneously come out with the such divergent & funny ideas. The adults are good too.
Simply Superb - By: kloossy, 13 Dec 2008
I caught a re-run of this on TV only a couple of weeks ago completely by chance having never heard of this series before. What can I say apart from this is just jaw droppingly brilliant! The children are astonishing, the adult leads are perfectly underplayed, the family conversations are so true to life (any family is bound to recognise most of these) that I end up squirming with recognition.... If you don't have a young family, this is by far the most realistic depiction of how it actuallly is. If you DO have a young family..you'll be laughing, & crying with laughter, at the same time. Easily the best sitcom on UK TV for ages.
great - By: Antonio Moncayo, 11 Dec 2008
This is a very actual comedy reflecting on difficult parenthood with 3 difficult children & dysfunctional parents.

Is shot mainly with handheld cameras & has a documenaty feel to it , the main attraction are the younger children ( supperbly played by newcomers ) & the challlenges they present to their parents.

The 2 adults struggle to put their children's educational needs before themselves & it can be cringe-inducing to watch the million of lost oportinities to correct their baheviour.

The script is original & fresh & is worth the current 2nd series.
Best comedy since ... - By: meer4, 11 Dec 2008
Was just trying to remember back to when I laughed so much at a 30 minute television comedy. It was possibly 'Fawlty Towers'! ... Is that 30 odd years ago? Brilliant - dont miss it, & get to see both series of course ! Any more like this & people will start watching TV again!
