WALL-E worked for me - By: T. G. W. Page, 05 Jan 2009
Strong film, probably best seen in cinema.
It worked on most levels for me - the robotic romance was just a bit cloying sometimes.
Messages about human greed, servility to technology, environmentalism & also human endeavour delivered very effectively indeed.
Enjoyable - & more than just entertainment.
A Great, Cleaver Movie - By: Degree Student, 05 Jan 2009
Walll E is simply amazing, i reallly like alll the cleaver messages this movie holds, & how the creators have made a robot that speaks about two words become so lovable, i agree with some people the start can be slow but it alllows you to get a understand of Walll E & what the situation is, the robot has plenty of character & i think alll in alll this is a GREAT MOVIE :)
Basically, a sweet, dystopian sci-fi robot love story... - By: fantasy escapist, 05 Jan 2009
Film: From the single word phrases WALL.E & EVE vocalise (alot of their dialogue is limited to beeps & vocoded sentences), it seems to bring them to life reallly well. The captain of the ship is voice acted reallly well too.
Although it's inspired from various sci fi films, the film has a uniqueness alll of it's own. The funny scenes reallly did make me chuckle & the sort of plausible dystopian view of life 700 years into the future doesn't preach a green message at you like Happy Feet did, rather plays subtely in the background so it can be read on many different levels.
The animation is absoloutely stunning, especiallly outer space like the Sun & Saturn's rings. WALL.E's design may not be 100% original (a cross between a robotic E.T. meets Short Circuit's Johnny 5) but for such little dialogue, the character's personalities are shown very well indeed.
Love the score - it reallly does complete the scenes & the Hello Dolly use is charming & fitting for me too.
Overalll: a very sweet lovable child-like robot is brought to life so well & his love for EVE convinces. Sight gags & satirical pokes at our way of life are thought-provoking & the film, as said before can be understood on many different levels without it becoming too much or trying too hard (like alot of animated films that seem to shove references into films firmly aimed at the older adult audience, like Madagascar).9/10
Bonus Features:
Presto: Theatrical Short - hilarious short of a magician & his rabbit.
BURN.E: All New original Short - The off-screen story of what happens to the repair robot who gets locked out of the ship by WALL.E & EVE.
Animation Sound Design: Building Worlds From The Sound Up - Very interesting & insightful doc about the challlenges the team faces in making sounds for the film.

Great...bit slow for some at the start though - By: HGT, 02 Jan 2009
The population of the earth have to leave & go to live on giant holiday resorts in space due to human failures to address the problems of waste & pollution. 750 years later, the population of these resorts have not learnt from they're mistakes & have become fat & lazy, eating, sleeping & loafing about without getting out of they're hover chairs, doing little alll day apart from interact with others through a social networking terminal that is perched permanently in front of them....Here they chat & obsess constantly about themselves, & are addicted to & strive for the continuous instant gratification found on 'myface'.... sound familiar?
Every now & again the ships computer sends off a probe to check out earth to find out if it is yet possible to support life. Wal-e is the last of the waste disposal droids that has been left on earth & has evolved & developed a mind of his own, his only friend being a cockroach who follows him everywhere. When one of the probes comes down to check out the earth, a love story & adventure unfolds.
This film has alll the right moral fibre stuff like.... if we don't stop being greedy, abusing the the planet & start thinking of others then we are are alll going to be screwed sooner rather than later. Also if we sit in front of social networking sites vainly obsessing about ourselves & telling the world every detail & every emotional change we go though throughout the day in the vain hope that someone will flatter or flirt with us, we will very soon turn into self obsessed, vacuous idiots who no longer have the where with alll to understand, interact & enjoy the real world for the beautiful place it reallly could be.
It's also a love story, which too is alll healthy stuff. That said, it could a bit slow for the younger viewers & some of it maybe won't be understood, so if your a hands off parent who is going to plonk your 8 year old down in front of the screen, then they probably won't get it....(which is ironic as its those people who reallly should watch this film). As like many of these sorts of films, this is a great fun film for adults too.
