Argos is now part of the Argos Retail Group, which is owned by GUS plc.
Launched in 1973, Argos has almost 500 (five hundred) shops and stores throughout the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. Approximately 98% of the UK> population live within 10 miles of at least one Argos store.
Argos had sales in the last financial year of £2.8 bn. Argos extra and Argos additions are increasing adding to their sales.
During the next three years Argos is planning to open 35 extra stores a year employing an additional 2,000 a year.
All of the remaining small stores are to be refurbished.
