ntl telecommunications have over 10 years experience in
delivering telephone, cable TV and Internet services and is currently
the UK's leading broadband provider offering cheap and fast connection
to subscribers to their network.
ntl UK Company History
Founded by Barclay Knapp and George Blumenthal in 1993 soon after
the announcement of the Government to open up the British telecommunications
sector to more competition ntl UK (then known as CableTel)
offered bundled telephone and television services as direct competitors
to BT and Sky who dominated both sectors at the time. Initially
serving around one million homes in cities in England, Scotland
and Wales they have extended their network by acquisitions and
development since 1993. In 1996 CableTel changed their name to
ntl and started branching into Internet Service Provision and
ntl mail. 1999 saw the company invest in Cablelink and the development
of ntl Ireland services as well as acquisitions into European
network providers. ntl broadband UK services started in
2001 and a year later the company decided to split the company
in two with ntl serving UK customers and Euroco representing their
European assets. Currently their network can serve just under
eight million homes throughout the UK. Financial figures as of
end March 2005 revealed the continuous strives by UK ntl
to extend services is paying dividends in both revenues and income:

- ntl Business services over £110 million revenue
- ntl Ireland services over £19 million revenue
- ntl overall operating income of over £177 million
